The Federal Government has announced plans to send a Nigerian to space in 2025

The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency Dr Matthew Adepoju announced this on Wednesday during a briefing in Abuja, the Nation’s Capital

According to him, the Federal Government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) to facilitate the ambitious venture.

The DG noted that the collaboration marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s 25th anniversary of Space Exploration journey and opens new opportunities for scientific research and technological advancement.

The MoU provides Nigeria the opportunity of choosing her best candidate and have the individual sent to the moon without bearing the usual $10,000 cost for such exploration

The Sponsor company, SERA said it aims to democratize the process by throwing the entry open to all Nigerians, irrespective of professional back ground and allow Nigerians choose by themselves the best contestant to represent them in the next global competitive space exploration programme
