Former NYSC Director-General, Maharazu Tsiga, has recounted his terrifying experience after spending 56 days in captivity.
He revealed that on the night before his release, hyenas circled him and other hostages, searching for food.
Tsiga, who was abducted from Katsina State on February 5, described the harsh conditions in the kidnappers’ den, where hostages frequently encountered snakes and scorpions.
He also revealed that the kidnappers used high-profile captives as human shields during aerial attacks and once placed an unexploded rocket near him while he slept.
Believing that government officials had access to money, the kidnappers broke into his house using explosives.
Tsiga noted that they feared aircraft more than anything, panicking whenever security forces flew overhead.
During captivity, food was provided only once a week, with hostages surviving on Tuwo Dawa. As a hypertensive patient, Tsiga suffered greatly from malnutrition and frequent beatings.
He urged Nigerians to support security agencies with intelligence, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
