Aston Villa have completed the signing of Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana from Everton.

This was confirmed by renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano who made the announcement on Monday on his X handle.

Romano said Aston Villa signed Amadou Onana on a long-term contract as a new midfielder from Everton, with a £50m fee plus add-ons and a sell-on clause

In their official statement, Aston Villa expressed their excitement highlighting Onana’s strengths, while describing him as a deep-lying midfielder skilled in breaking up plays and winning back possession.

Onana’s professional journey began with Hamburger SV in Germany, followed by a stop at LOSC Lille in France’s Ligue 1.

He joined Everton in the summer of 2022, where he made a significant impact, appearing in over 70 matches and scoring three goals in his final season with the Toffees.

Villa, who finished fourth in the Premier League last term, are strengthening for the Champions League in the coming campaign.
