Victor Wembanyama wins NBA Rookie of the Year award | Search Media

San Antonio Spurs sensation, Victor Wembanyama has claimed the prestigious title of NBA Rookie of the Year.

At just 20 years old, Wembanyama becomes the first Frenchman to ever receive this honor, following an extraordinary season where he averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, a league-leading 3.6 blocked shots, and 1.2 steals per game.

Selected as the top pick in last year’s draft, Wembanyama’s stellar performance was recognized unanimously, earning all 99 first-place votes from the panel.

His remarkable achievements include becoming the youngest player in NBA history to achieve a ‘five-by-five’ with 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, five steals, and five blocked shots in just 30 minutes, setting a new record for the fastest ever.

Wembanyama’s impact extended beyond individual records, as he joined an elite group of players, including former Spurs legends Tim Duncan and David Robinson, by recording 30 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in a single game.

Finishing behind Wembanyama in the rankings were Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder in second place and Brandon Miller of the Charlotte Hornets in third.
