A number of government offices and agencies in Niger State were shut on Wednesday – as organized labour kicked against the recent appointment of executive officers in some government parastatals

Organized Labour in the state say the action is to express displeasure over what it calls “a violation of civil service laws” , following the appointment of persons it tagged as politicians – into executive positions

The strike was mostly noticeable at health care facilities where gates were shut for the most part of Wednesday

Recall that Governor Umar Bago had earlier this week appointed several persons to assume duty as executive directors of finance, administration and operations as well as chairmen, members and permanent commissioners of the local government service commission – among others.
