The Department of State Services (DSS) has advised the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), to shelve its planned nationwide protest in the interest of peace and public order.

The call was made by DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, who advised the body to pursue dialogue and negotiation rather than staging protests which he said could heighten tensions.

He assured that government at all levels were striving to ameliorate the prevailing economic condition and as such, should be given benefit of the doubt.

Recall that the NLC had last Friday, declared a two-day nationwide protest over the prevailing economic hardship being experienced by Nigerians as well as worsening insecurity in the country
