In a tragic incident, at least five people lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries when a group of armed bandits launched a brazen attack on the Anguwar Dankali community in the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The acting Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Manir Hassan, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred at approximately 11pm on Friday night.

 

According to Hassan, the bandits descended upon the community in a coordinated attack, unleashing indiscriminate gunfire to instill fear among the residents. During this harrowing ordeal, five individuals who were outdoors at their residences were fatally shot by the assailants. Additionally, seven women were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location.

 

In response to a distress call, the police promptly mobilized and pursued the bandits, successfully rescuing all seven abducted women on Saturday morning. Furthermore, during the operation, one of the bandits was apprehended, while the others managed to escape, albeit with gunshot wounds.

 

This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in parts of Kaduna State, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and concerted efforts to address the menace of banditry in the region.
