The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has called for suggestions on ways in which the conduct of future elections in Nigeria can improve.

He made the call today in continuation of the quarterly Consultative meeting with the media and INEC members to review the 2023 general elections at the Commission’s conference room in Abuja.

INEC has in the last two weeks engaged with critical stakeholders who participated in the conduct of the 2023 general elections in the country.

While addressing the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Professor Yakubu said there are many positive aspects of the elections and admitted that at the same time, there were challenges.

He said that the commission is aware that aspects of the election are being litigated at the various election petition tribunals.

The INEC Chairman also sought suggestions on security during the election, the role of technology in voter accreditation and result management and any other suggestions that will improve the conduct of future elections.

In his remarks, the NUJ president, Comrade Chris Isiguzo MFR, noted that the review meeting is an invaluable opportunity for introspection and improvement.
