The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, will be representing President Bola Tinubu at two significant international events: the United Nations Food Systems Summit in Rome and the Russia-Africa Summit.
Vice President Shettima departed from Abuja today to attend these summits taking place in Rome, Italy, and St. Petersburg, Russia.

According to a statement from his spokesperson, Olusola Abiola, at the Rome summit, the Vice President will join leaders from around the world for the first Stocktaking Moment (STM) Summit with the theme “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet, and Prosperity.”
This event is organized in collaboration with the Rome-based UN Agencies, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP), as well as the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and wider UN system. The summit is scheduled to take place from Monday, the 24th of July, to Wednesday, the 26th of July.

Subsequently, the Vice President will proceed from Rome to St. Petersburg, Russia, to attend the Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for Wednesday, the 26th of July.

The Vice President is accompanied by senior government officials from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies for these important events. His return to the country is expected at the end of the week.
