Girls in secondary schools across the country have been advised to imbibe the habit of maintaining good personal hygiene as it promotes healthy living.

This call was made recently at a menstrual awareness program with tagged ‘” Becoming her” which held at the Maryam Babangida Girls Science College, Bosso,in Minna, the Niger State Capital.

Speaking at the event, the convener, Miss Comfort Yakubu, spoke extensively on the importance of sanitary pads and how girls can best use them when menstruating

Miss Comfort also seized the medium to urge girls of the adolescent age bracket to avoid sugary foods and fizzy drinks as they worsen cramps during menstruation

She encouraged school girls to abstain from sex in order to have a mindset focused on more positive goals and objectives in their development phase.

Miss Comfort also called on parents to take care of their female wards and educate them on the best ways to look after their personal hygiene as they are a very important and integral part of society

At the end of the event, a student who chose to speak to Search FM News on behalf of colleagues, expressed gratitude to the convener for the lecture; admitting that she and others present, had learned a lot from the programme.

Highlight of the event included the distribution of sanitary pads by the convener, Miss Comfort, to the secondary school girls in attendance as well as a drama presentation that underscored the benefits of using sanitary pads
