The Federal Government has warned Nigerians against feasting on rare aquatic species like the whale that was recently washed ashore in the Ijaw kiri community of Brass Local Government in Bayelsa State.

Giving the warning, Conservator-General, National Park Service, Ibrahim Musa Goni said the cannibalisation of the whale was dangerous and frowned at the way and manner the communities feasted on the aquatic animal.

Mr Goni who lamented that the 30 feet Whale was a rare specie gradually going extinct, urged Nigerians to rather call on appropriate authorities to assess the condition of any stranded aquatic animal and help it back into its natural habitat.

He also pledged to support the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency to help forestall future killings of stranded aquatic animals.
