President Donald Trump has congratulated Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his presidential election victory in Ukraine.
According to a statement released by the white house press secretary Ms Sarah Huckabee Sanders today, the president described Mr. Zelenskyy’s victory as an important moment in Ukraine’s history and the US is committed in working with teh democracy, increase prosperity, and root out corruption for the Ukrainian people.
The 41-year-old has also received congratulatory phone calls from France President Mr. Emmanuel Macron, Germany Chancellor Ms Angela Mackel and the European Union.
Mr. Zelenskyy, a comedian who played Ukraine’s president on a TV show called “Servant of the People,” won the election by a landslide, taking more than 73 percent of the vote.
