The Presidency says former Benue State Governor, George Akume, remains the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
This came after reports alleged that Akume stepped down as the SGF to become the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, there has been no change in the status of Akume.
He revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, had not made any new appointments.
Onanuga added that the information circulating about Akume’s replacement was untrue
On Friday, the 27th of June, 2025, a former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, resigned as APC National Chairman, paving the way for the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, to take over.
