Nigeria is set to embark on a massive tree planting campaign during the upcoming rainy season, as part of the nation’s national reforestation and environmental sustainability efforts.
Vice President Kashim Shettima made this known while speaking after touring several agricultural and industrial facilities across Ethiopia,
The Vice President, who is on a state visit to the country, described Ethiopia as a success story worthy of emulation and a pathfinder for Africa’s renaissance.
He said the initiative drew strong inspiration from Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Programme, which he described as a model that merged climate action with economic opportunity.
VP Shettima revealed plans to plant 20 billion trees in the next rainy season.
