The Federal Minster of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani has been elected as the Vice Chair of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council.
Announcing the historic development on Tuesday, Tijani described his election as a profound honour,
He expressed appreciation to the ITU leadership and member states for the trust placed in him.
Tijani further disclosed that this role aligned with the national digital priorities, especially as outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
The ITU, composed of 48 ITU Member States, is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technologies.
The Council acts as the Union’s governing body in the interval between plenipotentiary conferences.
