The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has reaffirmed its readiness to conduct the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), scheduled for April 24 to June 20.

At a press briefing, Dr. Amos Dangut, WAEC’s Head of National Office, revealed new strategies to prevent exam malpractice.

One of the new measures is ensuring that no two students receive identical questions, as each exam paper will feature different variations to prevent cheating. Additionally, WAEC is introducing its first-ever computer-based WASSCE, although participation is optional at this stage.

Dr. Dangut urged parents and schools to discourage exam malpractice, warning that any school caught in mass cheating will face sanctions, including possible derecognition.

WAEC is working with the Nigeria Police to ensure exam security and has made past questions and study resources available on its e-study and Konnect portals.

Over 1.9 million students from more than 23,000 schools will sit for the exams this year.
