First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to improving healthcare accessibility and affordability in the Niger Delta and other neglected regions of the country.
Senator Tinubu made this statement on Thursday, during the launch of a health insurance scheme for vulnerable and low-income individuals, as well as the commissioning of a renovated cottage hospital and community school in Otuasega, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
This initiative was carried out by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in partnership with the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The First Lady also inaugurated the 2025 NDDC free medical outreach and the donation of medical equipment to healthcare facilities in the region.
She highlighted that the new health insurance scheme, aimed at rural communities in the Niger Delta, would provide affordable and reliable healthcare for thousands of families.
Additionally, NDDC Managing Director, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, also emphasized that the collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative is designed to deliver vital development in health, education, and social services, benefiting women, children, and youth in the Niger Delta.
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State thanked the Federal Government for its support in various development projects, particularly the second phase of the Nembe-Brass road, which will connect coastal communities in the state.
