Twelve inmates have escaped from the Federal Correctional Centre in Koton karfe in Kogi State
Kogi State Information Commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo, who confirmed the jail break which occured in the early hours of Monday, described the incident as “unfortunate” and assured citizens that government working with security agencies to apprehended the individuals on the run and take steps to prevent a recurrence.
According to him, law enforcement agencies have already re-arrested one of the escapees.
The commissioner urged the public to report any suspicious persons in their communities to the appropriate authorities; adding that anyone found harbouring an escaped inmate will be held accountable.
