President Bola Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation into the tanker explosion that caused multiple accidents and fatalities at Karu Bridge, Abuja, on Wednesday night.
The President condoled with family members who lost loved ones in the inferno and ordered priority treatment of the injured in various medical facilities in the capital city.
Tinubu also prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives and for strength for their grieving families.
In a statement by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, the President directed security and road safety agencies to closely monitor traffic around Abuja’s major entry and exit points.
The tanker explosion, which occurred on the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road, destroyed at least 30 vehicles and led to fears of casualties.
The incident happened when the tanker, loaded with petrol, lost control and crashed, igniting a large fire that spread to surrounding vehicles.
