The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained nine individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Abuja. The arrests occurred on Tuesday at Sunnyville Estate in Lokogoma and Open Heaven Estate in Dawaki, both within the Federal Capital Territory.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the operation led to the seizure of four high-end cars, laptops, iPads, and phones from the suspects. He stated that the individuals will face charges in court once investigations are finalized.
This incident is part of a broader crackdown on cybercrime in the region. Recently, the EFCC arrested 59 suspected internet fraudsters at Abacha Road, Mararaba, near Abuja, following credible intelligence on their activities. Items recovered in that operation included 73 mobile phones of various brands.
The EFCC continues to intensify efforts to combat cybercrime, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
