After years of buildup, Manchester City is set to face the Premier League in English football’s biggest and most controversial contest.

Manchester City has been accused of serially cheating the very league it has dominated for years.

The team faces 115 charges with allegations spanning 14 seasons, including multiple counts of subverting regulations by failing to provide accurate financial information.

These charges will be heard at an independent hearing, scheduled to start on Monday at an undisclosed location, subject to any last-minute legal delays.

Billed as the sport’s trial of the century, the hearing is expected to last for 10 weeks, with a verdict anticipated in early 2025.

If found guilty of the most serious charges, City could, in theory, face a points deduction severe enough to lead to relegation—or even expulsion—from the Premier League.
