Flood in Maiduguri Displaces Over 400,000 Households; Death Toll Rises to 30 | Search Media

Due to the devastating flood that struck Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, people have been trapped in their homes and on rooftops.

The Director of Planning, Research, and Forecasting at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Onimode Bandele, provided an update on the situation on Thursday.

He reported that over 400,000 households have been displaced by the flood, with fears that the number could reach one million.

NEMA spokesman Ezekiel Manzo informed newsmen that the death toll has risen to 30, following the inundation of thousands of homes by water from an overflowing dam in the capital city of Borno State.

According to him, the flood has affected approximately 40% of the entire city.
