The Federal Government has expressed profound condolences to the government and people of Borno State in response to the severe flooding in Maiduguri caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, confirmed that the flood has led to significant damage, including the destruction of property, homes, and infrastructure, displacement of families, and disruption of many lives.

The government is actively working to mobilize resources to support the victims and address the aftermath of the disaster. Vice President Kashim Shettima has reassured the public that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to addressing and mitigating the impact of flood disasters across the country.
