Nigeria’s Women Basketball Team, D’Tigress, have be one the first African Team to be ranked amongst the Top 10 in the world by FIBA

In the latest ranking released on Thursday by the world basketball governing body, the six-time AfroBasket champions were ranked eight in the World

The historical feat could be linked to the Team’s dazzling performance at the recent Paris Olympics where D’Tigress defeated both Australia and Canada in the group stage to become first African team to compete in the Quarter-Finals at the Olympics.

The D’Tigress’ brilliant performance saw head coach, Rena Wakama named as the best coach of the women’s basketball event.

Olympic champions, USA, retain the top spot in the global ranking, followed by Australia and France.

China and Spain complete the line-up for the best five teams in women’s basketball.
