The Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, has tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu.

Abubakar disclosed this to Newsmen at the weekend, shortly after his meeting with the President.

He seized the medium to thank President Tinubu for giving him the opportunity to serve Nigeria under his transformational leadership for an extended period of 15 months; a privilege – which he described as ‘very rare’

Despite his resignation, Abubakar promised to remain professionally dedicated to the country

While he didn’t go into specifics, he implied that his decision to resign had to do with personal and family issues.
