The Nigerian Air Force says contrary to media reports on Monday, it was an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (U.A.V) that crashed in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and not a Helicopter

In a statement issued by the spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force Edward Gabkwet, the Nigerian Air Force said the U.A.V experienced a mishap after take-off for a mission, at a location near Rumji Village, about 15 Kilometres from the Air Force Base in Kaduna.

He added that a preliminary investigation has since commenced to ascertain what may have caused the mishap.

The spokesman urged Nigerians to be rest assured that the setback would not, in any way affect ongoing operations by the Air Force

In the wake of the incident, a team of Airforce personnel from the Nigerian Air Force Air Training Centre and 401 Flying School were deployed to cordon off the scene of the accident
