The death toll from the suicide bomb attacks in Gwoza, Borno State over the weekend – has risen to 32
The upward review was confirmed on Monday by Vice President Kashim Shettima who said 42 new persons had been brought to the specialist hospital in Maiduguri with 14 already discharged after receiving treatment.
The Vice President, who made a personal donation to all the victims, condoled with the families of those killed by the multiple explosions.
He also conveyed the condolences of President Bola Tinubu to the people of Gwoza and Borno State – in general
Eighteen people were initially reported killed on Saturday when four suicide bombers set off improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Gwoza.
Several other people sustained injuries in the attack which is one of the deadliest reported in the state in recent months.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun says the Force Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit and its counterpart in the Nigerian Army have commenced “clearance operations to ensure that no further threats infiltrate any part of Borno or neighbouring States
The police boss condemned the suicide bombings by terrorists in the Gwoza area of the North-East state, and vowed that the Force would continue to work with the military and other security agencies, as well as stakeholders to bring down all forms of violent attacks in the country.
