At least 13 Kenyan protesters have died in ongoing protest against an unpopular finance bill pushed by President William Ruto

The deaths were reported on Tuesday as the protests escalated to the point where a section of the county’s parliament building was set ablaze – after an angry crowd broke through police lines to occupy it

In his reaction, President Ruto said all means would be deployed to “thwart any attempts by dangerous criminals to undermine the security and stability of Kenya”.

He has since deployed the military to quell the protests.
