The Defence Headquarters says operational adjustments have been made by the military to prioritize protection for farmers as they go about their farming activities
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major-General Edward Buba, made this known on Friday in Abuja while giving updates on the operations of the armed forces.
Buba said the military had intensified intelligence collection efforts; targeted at hunting terrorists and striking them where they may be hiding
He said the aim was to eliminate the terrorists and the infrastructure that supports their activities.
According to him, troops had, in different operations, neutralized 220 terrorists and apprehended 395 suspects while rescuing 202 kidnapped hostages – in the past week.
He added during the operations, a total of 432 assorted weapons and 9,004 assorted ammunition comprising three PKT guns, one G3 rifle, 83 AK47 rifles and 18 locally-fabricated guns…were recovered
Also recovered were 16 dane guns, 14 RPG bombs, one RPG launcher, two tear gas launchers, 234 smoke grenades as well several mobile phones among other gadgets
