NAFDAC Warns Against Storing Cooked Food in Refrigerators for Over 72 Hours | Search Media

The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Moji Adeyeye, has urged Nigerians to refrain from storing cooked food in the refrigerator for more than 72hrs

The NAFDAC boss who made this known in a statement on Tuesday – warned that cooked food stored in the refrigerator for days is susceptible to contamination by disease-causing pathogens that could lead to death.

Professor Adeyeye urged stakeholders in the food supply chain to take deliberate actions to institute a food safety culture in their operations – so as to mitigate food hazards and risks.

Her appeal contained in a lecture titled ‘Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected’, comes days after the commemoration of World Food Safety Day

The Day is celebrated annually on the 7th of June following its declaration by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 + as part of efforts to raise awareness and encourage efforts to prevent, detect and address public health risks linked to unsafe food.
