Federal Government Reconstitutes Governing Councils and Boards for 111 Federal Institutions | Search Media

The Federal Government has reconstituted the Governing Councils and Boards for 111 federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. This announcement was made in a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

The new appointments include former Osun State Governor and pioneer chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, as chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan (UI), Oyo State.

Other notable appointees are Senior Advocate of Nigeria Wole Olanipekun for the University of Lagos (UNILAG), former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda for the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Yayale Ahmed for Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU).

Senator Joy Emordi has been appointed to chair the council of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Imo State.

The new list comprises five members each for 51 universities, 35 polytechnics, and 22 colleges of education.

A previous list released by the government was withdrawn after objections from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other stakeholders, who raised concerns about its fairness.
