Organised Labour has issued statement denying claims that an agreement had been reached on a new national minimum wage.
The acting President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Prince Adewale Adeyanju, said on Wednesday that no agreement was reached with Government before the Tripartite Committee on the National Minimum Wage submitted its report least Friday.
Adeyanju stated that in place of a consensus, two figures – N250,000 from Organised Labour and N62,000 from the government and Organised Private Sector, were arrived at and ought to have been submitted to the President.
The labour leader insisted that anything short of what it recommended would not be accepted by Labour.
The statement strikes a contradictory tone to President Tinubu’s assertion earlier in the day that indicated a consensus had been reached on the long-debated new minimum wage between the Federal Government and organised labour.
