The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has urged the Federal Government and the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, to be transparent regarding fuel subsidy claims.
The call was made on Wednesday by NANS President, Pedro Obi, while fielding questions from Newsmen in Abuja, the Nation’s Capital
He recalled that during the inauguration ceremony of President Bola Tinubu last year,he had announced that fuel subsidy was gone for good.
However, in recent months certain reports have been indicating that Premium Motor Spirit was still being subsidized to some degree
The NANS President who wondered if subsidy had been re-introduced through the back door, questioned why fuel prices are still beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians.
He subsequently called on Governments to she’s more light over the confusing status of fuel subsidies.
The NAN’s President also demanded that the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC Limited) be more transparent regarding the fuel subsidy claims by stating how much was being paid and to whom.
According to him, failure to do this, will leave students with no option but to take to the streets to demand answers.
