Reports reaching our studio suggest that President Bola Tinubu would be presenting the 2024 Supplementary Budget to the National Assembly (NASS) in due course.

The President gave the hint on Wednesday while speaking before a joint session of the National Assembly – a meeting which had been trailed by confusion due to conflicting reports from the Presidency with regards to whether the President would appear before lawmakers or not.

The President who did not disclose specifically when he would be bringing the supplementary budget to the National Assembly, thanked the lawmakers for passing the previous appropriation bill expeditiously

He pleaded with both the Senate and the House of Representatives to continue to work together with his administration to steer the country on the path of sustained progress and development.

In his response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, also thanked the President and informed him that both chambers would be expecting the Supplementary budget of 2024 to be relayed to them as soon as possible.

Recall that President Tinubu had on the 1st of January, 2024, granted assent to the N28.7 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill passed by the Senate.

The 2024 budget was N1.2 trillion higher than the budget originally proposed by the President to a joint NASS session on the 29th of November, 2023.
