The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has closed down a private rice factory in Niger State due to poor hygiene standards.
This was revealed by the Director of NAFDAC’s North-Central Zone Shaba Mohammed, during a routine inspection of facilities in the state, he stated that although the facility was registered with the agency, it failed to maintain a clean production environment and did not adhere to good manufacturing practices.
He noted that the inspection uncovered some workers lacked proper knowledge, leading to substandard practices.
The director also encouraged small and medium enterprises to use N.A.P.A.M.S, an e-registration system, to apply for product registration with NAFDAC.
He further urged the public to report any activities that could endanger public health to NAFDAC.
