Soldiers and officers from the FCT Police Command have taken over the popular Banex plaza in the Wuse area of the nation’s capital – following a brawl that broke out at the weekend
The fight which ensued on Saturday – was over the purchase of a phone which was returned due to a faulty battery
The shop owner was said to have ganged-up with others to overpower and physically assault the complaining customers who are believed to be service men
Worried by the situation, the FCT Police Command has since called for calm, urging residents to go about their legitimate duties.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, made the call in a statement issued by the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, hours after the clash.
Adeh, a superintendent of Police, said security operatives comprising the police and troops had been deployed to restore law and order.
