A storey building has collapsed at the New Market area of Minna, the Niger State Capital – leaving a number of persons injured

The collapse which occured on Friday initially left an unspecified number of people trapped before emergency officials arrived at the scene to pull out survivors from beneath the collapsed structure

The injured are presently receiving treatment at the Minna General Hospital

As at the time of this report, no fatalities had been reported

Reacting after the incident, the General Manager of the Niger State Urban Development Board, Bako Ismail, said the building in question was illegally converted to a story building, claiming that the board had made repeated attempts to stop the owner from embarking on the illegal conversion.
