The Federal Government has fixed the 24th of May as date for the opening of the much touted students loan application portal

This was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the management of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the body saddled with the responsibility of managing and disbursing the loans to interested students.

The agency’s spokesperson, Nasir Ayitogo, urged eligible students of tertiary institutions and accredited skill acquisition centres – to take advantage of the opportunity to invest in their future and contribute to the growth and development of the country.

The agency said the portal can be accessed via www.nelf.gov.ng.

Interested applicants are also urged to seek more information and assistance through the agency’s verified social media handles to avoid being duped by fraudulent persons.

The latest development comes eight months after the programme failed to kick off in September 2023 as earlier announced by President Bola Tinubu
