The House of Representatives has called for a truce between the local chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the management of the University of Abuja in resolving a dispute at the Institution.
The call was made on Tuesday by Honorable Abubakar Fulata, Chairman of the House Committee on University Education, during a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of the University and ASUU members at the National Assembly in Abuja.
Fulata highlighted the government’s intervention, which removed universities from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) to ensure academic activities continue uninterrupted and appealed to ASUU to suspend the indefinite strike that it declared on the 2nd of May , promising that the National Assembly would soon introduce a bill to address issues related to the VC appointments and university management in the absence of a council.
