FINIDI GEORGE AS SUPER EAGLES COACH – NFF EXPLAINS REASONS | Search Media

Ex-winger and member of the immediate past technical crew of the National Team, George Finidi, has been appointed as the new Coach of the Super Eagles

Following his appointment on Monday by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), technical committee member, Victor Ikpeba, has revealed the reason behind the choice of the new coach

Ikpeba, who was Finidi’s teammate in his playing days, stated that the NFF settled for Finidi because of financial constraints.

According to him, the decision was a difficult one as the technical committee initially wanted a foreign manager.

However, he settled finances and the need for continuity made the committee settle for Finidi who had worked with Peseiro to take the team to the final of the 2023 AFCON.

Finidi’s first official game will be Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana of South Africa in June.
