INEC announces date for mock exercise ahead of off-cycle Guber polls in three States | Search Media

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it set to conduct a mock exercise ahead of the governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.

INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun who disclosed this on Monday – said the test-run would take place simultaneously in the three States on Saturday, the 14th October 2023, from 8.30 AM to 2.30 PM

The commission explained that the mock exercise would be conducted using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) with results from polling units expected to be uploaded on INEC’s Result-Viewing Portal (IReV).

The commission added that a maximum of three polling units have been identified in senatorial districts across each of the selected States – for the mock exercise

This amounts to a total of nine Senatorial Districts and 27 polling units.

INEC promised that lessons learnt from the exercise would be taken into consideration in ensuring a seamless process during the actual elections scheduled for Saturday, the 11th of November 2023.

The Commission appealed to registered voters in the selected polling units to turn up with their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) for the exercise.
