The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Minna, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta says there is no going back on the University’s examination timetable amid speculations that it might be adjusted due to the forthcoming General Elections
Professor Kuta who set the record straight in an exclusive interview with Search TV on Wednesday explained that the university had analyzed the situation critically before deciding on the dates in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) which is an extension of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Vice-chancellor added that Vice-Chancellors do not have the power to shut down universities until management receives information to do so from the Ministry and the NUC.
He further added that management had examined the situation; noting that some days would be examination-free.
On the current electricity situation at the Main Campus in Gidan Kwano, Professor Kuta acknowledged that management was aware of the situation and that strategies were currently being deployed to address the problem.
On the non-commemoration of this year’s Founder’s Day which coincides with the University’s Annual Convocation, the Vice-Chancellor attributed the development to financial constraints and assured that the next Convocation would be combined.
