The Niger State Police Command has urged residents to stick to State Government guidelines aimed at containing the COVID-19 pandemic as Muslims prepare to celebrate Eid-El-Fitr
The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Adamu Usman, made this call in a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna, the Niger State Capital
The Commissioner of Police who felicitated with Muslims ahead of Sallah, seized the medium to remind residents that the restriction of movement, use of face mask and night curfew imposed by Government to check the spread of Covid-19 would remain in force during the forthcoming celebration
He assured that the Command had put adequate security measures in place to clamp down on anyone or group of persons threatening to disrupt public peace during and after the Eid period.
To this end, CP Adamu called on parents and guardians to caution their wards against any form of public disturbance to avert potential arrest and prosecution
The Commissioner who also announced the imposition of a temporary suspension of Durbar activities during Sallah, further called on Muslims to seize the occasion of Eid-El-Fitr to pray for the State and the Nation at these trying times of COVID-19
